Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.

As a Manager, Health & Safety, you’ll play an active role in helping BCAA lead our workplace Health & Safety (H & S) standards and practices. Your hands-on approach for strategically developing programs and keen eye for detail to meet H & S standards enables BCAA to be one of the most trusted organizations in British Columbia.  

What you bring 

  • Minimum 5 years’ Health & Safety (H&S) experience, along with an Occupational H & S (OH & S) diploma/degree or an equivalent degree program. 

  • Expertise in WorkSafeBC regulations and knowledge of OH & S collective agreements. 

  • A natural ability to lead, and mentor team members along with a high level of business acumen. 

  • A problem solver with exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities. 

  • Excellent communication skills along with ability to multi-task and quickly adapt to when things change.

Bonus qualifications!  

  • Safety designation (CSP, CRSP) an asset 

  • Familiar with BCAA operations & organizational structure 

What a typical day looks like 

  • Develop and lead all H&S programs to ensure regulatory compliance and to meet the needs of BCAA.

  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and interpret safety trends and make recommendations on opportunities and risk management.

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of COR requirements to ensure successful audits, along with always keeping ahead of optimization and the elimination of redundancies. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote H&S best practices, conduct training in line with COR certification.

  • Be on the front-line and act as a Crisis Management Team Lead and BCAA Alert member for communicating emergency response messages.

  • Manage the corporate ergonomics program; WCB partnership and other third-party vendors to ensure effective documentation and contract management.
